To fellow 1st generation frontier owners, I just want to know if you know the location to put the tow hook/ tow straps? Do you know if they make tow hooks for 1st generation frontys? Can you recommend me the best brand of two straps that I could buy at a local auto parts store? Thank you.

Can't answer the 1st gen question. But any strap, expensive or cheap, that has the webbed loops on the ends is ok. Don't get the ones with the metal hooks on the ends. The hooks will snap in 2 with any snatching action. The expensive ones usually carry a warranty to replace them should they fail. The only ones I have had to replace are those borrowed by others. One was tied in a knot to shorten it then snatched so tight it wouldn't come untied. The others were looped over a sharp corners piece of bumper or frame. A sharp corner will cut any snatch strap, especially if there is any tugging action.

Hope this helps you make a decision.
By the way, I only buy the cheap ones. Usually just this one. Didn't think the rating was that low though, and didn't spend any more than this.

I did, however, buy a 30,000lb winch recovery kit when I bought my winch.

Damn, I got the one with the hook at the end. I bought that because most cars has a tow hook at the back and I decided to get that one. I was supposed to get the one that you posted but I wasn't sure if it was the right one. I guess i have to return the one that i bought and get the one from walmart.

If you have a receiver hitch and pull from the rear, you can run the strap loop in the receiver and put the hitch pin through the loop. Before doing that loop the strap over something solid on the other vehicle and pull one end of the strap through the loop and then in the receiver. Don't tie it in a knot. You will never get it out.

I don't have a receiver hitch. I was trying to purchase a shackle but I can't find it. I was thinking of purchasing a tow hook to be place on the front of my fronty but I have no luck there either cause I realized that there is a tow contact underneath the front bumper.
