Today I picked up a 2011 Frontier SV King Cab 4x4. The previous owner had a mid-life crisis and bought a Lexus convertible. I bought his Frontier for $17,995 with 26,400 miles on it. Its nothing short of miraculous in shape  . It flew through Maryland inspection. Unfortunately, it did not come with the package upgrade to include the Utili-Trak, class III receiver, spray on bedliner, etc...

I'd like advice on what mods & upgrades to consider...

How much money can we spend? If it is without a bedliner, I'd start there.
4X4? A good set of all terrain or mud terrain tires. I m partial to BFG AT KO2s and BFG MT KM2s. A lift of your choice depending, again, on budget, spacers or PRG Radflos?
A sound system? I like Alpine.
