Random Pics II
Those are amazing. What is the exposure time? And how did you know when to start to capture the beginning of a single round like that?

I was shooting in bulb mode with exposure times of 2-10 seconds (more or less held it open till it 'felt' right) at ISO 200 and f/11-16. Typically I opened the shutter as soon as I heard the lift charge, though some were in such quick succession I'd close the shutter then pop it right back open.

You caught them with impeccable timing!

Back again with some more photos, this time from a weekend trip to just over the Kansas/Oklahoma state line off I35 to shoot sunflowers.

Great photos, especially the truck in a barn.

Been a while... Busy with work and life, and all that boring adult stuff. But still found some time to pick up the camera occasionally (now to just get caught up on sorting/processing!)

Some friends of mine were doing the fireworks for a local NYE celebration last night, and having gotten the inside scoop on just exactly what they were firing I managed to snag one of the better locations to shoot from with zero crowd to deal with.

Your pictures are always so amazing!

Fish eye lens? Marco? I notice slight curvature around the edges of the photo, but not in a bad way.

14mm Rokinon, it's a rectilinear design but shooting at an upward angle emphasized the inherent curvature you get on lenses that wide. Excellent ultra wide angle lens if you're willing to forgo auto focus and auto-aperture control, total bargain compared to Nikon or Canon's equivalent models.

Welcome back and it is always a pleasure to view your excellent photography skills. Do you still do any sporting events?

Haven't photographed any recently, still do the video board (and occasional scoreboard) work for the local school district and went to the F1 USGP again this year.

Had sub zero temps the begining of last week so I decided to replicate something I'd seen on facebook, frozen bubbles. This wasn't as easy a task as I expected as the wind was blowing them all over the place and shattering them once they started to freeze, but I got a few decent shots before my hands went numb.

Twisting in the wind

I have never seen this before. I would never have thought to try it and if I did I would not be able to get a picture of it. Nice work as usual,

http://www.davisphotoworks.com/dogpatch

Once an active theme park based upon the Lil' Abner comic strip, Dogpatch USA has sat abandoned for over 20 years. In that time it has changed hands several times and plans to revive it for various purposes have failed to come to fruition.

Today the park sits in a state of disrepair with most of the attractions long since removed save for the old water slide.

At the south end of the old park is a dam constructed at the mouth of the waterfall for which the city is named, Marble Falls. This dam was constructed in such a way as to incorporate the existing falls as the primary path for water to flow out of the newly created lake. Erosion thru the years have formed an upper and lower level.

Upper Marble Falls
[Image: p743994923-4.jpg]

The lower section of Marble Falls has had sewage infiltrate it over the years as old septic systems have leaked into the ground water lending quite the unpleasant odor to the air.

One of the attractions at Dogpatch was a railroad ride through the park which featured clear views of the falls and the lake to the north.

The tram continued on south for a bit before passing through a tunnel prior to looping back to the north.

The only attraction still standing is the water slide, though it's wooden structure is not to be trusted for climbing on.

I remember Dogpatch USA as a kid, but, with as many trips as I have made to Marshallto visit my granpaw and hearing my Aunt and Uncle talk about it, I never remember going to Dogpatch USA.
I had to Google it to see where it was.

Cool pictures.

Excellent photos as usual. My favorite is the one taken inside the railroad tunnel. I like the texture of the wall on the left, the bright "light at the end of the tunnel" and the prism burst on the rail. You certainly do have an eye for a good photo.

I loved that tunnel, such a great location. Probably spent longer shooting it than anywhere else.
