I love my job!

It is less than one month away from my trip to Japan. I am still working on the Titan and SUV program, while my LCV counterparts are getting our Japan work schedule set up. I found out I will be traveling to Hiroshima the 2nd week. Most likely by Shinkansen (Bullet Train). I guess I need to take my video camera as well as my still camera. Visiting Peace Memorial Park will be a must. It is the site of the atomic bomb blast at the end of WWII. I also want to visit Miyajima Island and the Itsukushima Shrine with the Otorii (gate) only accessible when the tide is out. See below. It is known to be one of the top 3 most beautiful sites in Japan.

Hopefully I will have my own pics, somewhat soon. I will try to update pics as I can while there. It looks like I will be traveling a good bit, so internet connections may be iffy.

and the traffic on the left side..165
We do not get to drive over here. Train, bus, taxi, and foot. Got here a little after 9:00pm Japan time. View from room stinks. All I can see is themotell lower level roof top and the backside of a wall that sticks up above the roof. I do have wired internet hook up right here in the room. so that is good.

Later!
that dose stink... but toyoko is like that.... infact most of the cities are like that... i remeber playing in the street when i was living there (as a kid) cause there was no front or back yard... In fact for a good year i didn't see any grass....
I hope you' well there. Hah now you are who is on the easternmost.(nice word)
I made a quick trip into Machida just to mess around this morning.

Looking forward to your updates! Big Grin
Great! Thanks!

Hm, guide line on the pavement for the visionless(es). Nice.
I could read one of the signs. Do you speak/read Japanese? I hope that you have the time to get lots of pictures. If it weren't for you and Balage I would not know what the rest of the world looks like. Thanks to both of you.

wow... those pics bring back memories.... you should take a pic of the 2 lane roads over there since here they are considered one lane.... and one way lol

We took a taxi down one of the one lane two way traffic roads today. Traffic was not bad, so it was not so scary. I did have a hairy experience in a taxi back in 2002, though. Taxi driver thought he was in a video game.

Anyway, rather than load alot of pics here, here is a link to my Photobucket Japan Trip page. I will keep you updated as to when I add new pics. Trip to Hiroshima the end of this week. Looks like we will go to Hokona next weekend. There is a large lake near Fuji with a train ride to the top of a nearby mountain, gondola rise, and boat ride around the lake. Hope to get many pics of the scenery and Fuji.

Work has been very busy, so I haven't been able to check in thte past couple days. Got home Monday night at 9:00 and tonight at 11:45. We commuted a long way to work for these 3 weeks, so we have to make every minute count.
.
Cool thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for the pics Mdawg!
Just got back from Hiroshima a few hours ago. I got photos added to My Japan Pics. we went to Peace Memorial Park before returning to Sagami-ono today. The museum was quite shocking seeing the photos and artifacts of the destruction and survivors.

The remains of the building that was under the A-Bomb when it exploded.

Thanks for the pictures. Is that a wedding where the girl is in white? Who owns the cat and dog? How about pictures of the vehicles they have there that we don't have here. I am glad that you can get on the internet while you are there.

Don't know them, just saw them out in the park. The Japanese don't have a lot of room to own pets. Most of them are small dogs. They pamper them more than I do my Jeep and Frontier.

I have pics of some of the vehicles, but haven't posted them yet. I'll get them and am still lookin for some of the newer, relly unique looking ones. I have seen several, but have been unable to get pics of them. Mostly while riding on the trains and taxies.
Okie,
I added pics of a few vehicles. These were at a restaurant in Hiroshima were we ate lunch. Small cars = small parking places!
