Recently i changed my manual transmission fluid and went by the book. Since the change, shifting has been much stiffer. I'm pretty sure i filled the pan at or near (little more) recommended level. Do you think overfilling the transmission pan would cause any problems? Wish the transmission pan had a dipstick
Could it just be that i need to break it in? Any ideas?
I appreciate it

hmmmmm, idk!

Odd, maybe the viscosity difference.

idk
Same thing happened to me when I had all my fluids changed in my Jeep. Getting back into 1st was the most difficult. I went back to the place that did and questioned what kind of fluid they used. They said they used the recommended kind of fluid and was a top brand, but I don't remember which. So, they swapped to a synthetic, which helped, but I still get a sticky shift every once in a while.
It's actually gotten a lot better recently...it's the cold start that makes it difficult to shit...but as it warms up it gets a tad easier..
maybe some parts of the trans got deprived of oil when you drained it, and is now barely getting the correct lubrication?
That could be. I'm driving around town a lot to get the transmission internals lubed up as best as possible.
Are you letting it warm up enough? I know that when the truck is cold, tranny is pretty hard getting into first. However, once it's warm she shifts like butter. In fact, I don't even use the clutch 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th, most of the time... even downshifting.
If your still unhappy with it after a few more days, I would definitely drain the oil again, measure it out and put it back in. How much of a job is it to change it out, do you have to pour it through the shifter hole?
