So my wife told me today that the check engine light came on today. She tried to start the truck and it did not the first time, but started the second time without any issues. I will see if it keeps giving issues and keep you posted. I only have 35k on it right now.
Check the gas cap 1st. If it wasn't tightened thoroughly, it will throw a code. Tighten it and the light will go out after 2 consecutive longer trips (15-20 minutes at highway speeds, I think it is).
Fuel sender sensor alert. Registering low voltage.

What do you guys think??
Are those under the power train warranty or bumper to bumper?
bumper to bumper. I still have 1000k b4 it expires. If it goes off again I will take a trip to the dealership

Get it done before the warranty is up. I paid $70, my cost at the local stealership, for a sending unit and installed it myself. Not a bad job. Just make sure you are low on fuel, not empty 20 miles from home though, so the tank will not be heavy.
Same code was being sent by mine. We turned it off and it hasn't come back on, so I didn't take it to the Fronty Hospital. It's been a few weeks since it came on, so I guess I'm in the clear.
I wonder why so many of them are going bad? 179
Good question? Mine went out at 39K miles and the dealer told me it would not be covered. I asked him if that would be considered a normal wear item? And why so many were going bad? He didn't even answer. I could tell he didn't like the questions.
Unfortunately many of the sending units are poorly sealed with a varnish like laquer, if there is a air buble in it, the fuel willdissolve the weak spot and enter the sensor. International has the same problem with its sensors, which also happen to come from Bosch. Its something that is a hit or miss thing, a q/c problem.

Yeah it happened after my wife put fuel in the truck, but she called me to ask how many gallons the tank took. I guess the gauge was not reading properly already. Maybe I will take it in so that they can replace it anyways.

Can they read back codes that have been cleared??

depends on the type of scanner that was used to clear the codes.... but usually no, unless it was the code clear by key or gas petal method. 185
Well my wife put gas in the truck and it happened again. The gauge was telling her that she had a quarter of a tank left and she ended up filing it up with almost 18 gallons. So I am taking the truck in on thursday to the dealership since I am still under 36k. Yeah warranty 185
That's weird, mine's back on again too. I filled up with ga last night (yes I closed the cap properly) and when I went to start it this morning, it came on. Gas guage went wonky too, first it said it was at half tank, which it should have been right full up, now it's saying max full, which it should be down a bit. I don't want to trust it, so I've been judging my tank by the DTE reading, which seems to be working. I went to the local dealership and they said bring it back when it's around a quarter tank so they can work on it. Gonna be tricky to get it in the right range without a gas gauge... I hope I don't run out 204 Mine's under warranty as well.

Crap. I hope they do not tell me the same thing. I do not have the DTE in my truck. I guess I will have to count miles. 174
The sensor was damaged so they are replacing it under warranty, they said that I would lose fuel when they did it since they had to drop the tank. I am on my way to pick it up. I had 3/4 of a tank.
Back from the dealership with 3/4 of a tank 185 So I did not lose one bit of gas
Good to hear. How long did it take? My advisor said 1.5hrs.
They started working on it at about 10 am and by 1 PM they had called to say that it was ready
I replaced mine myself. It is not bad. I think I could do it again in 1.5hrs, even without a lift. Of coarse, my tank was almost empty, so removing it by myself was not bad. I would hate to change one with more than 1/4 of a tank of gas.
Well, tonight it was my turn for this ailment. I find it funny that it always happens right after a fill up. When I first saw the SES I realized it said just under 1[4 tank and for the next few miles it went up to just over 1/4. I remembered my scangauge and cleared the code at the next light. The gas stayed the same.
When I got home I shut it off and turned it back on. The code was back. I then got silly and played with buttons, now the light is on, the gauge says completely empty and the amber light for low fuel is on.
For those that had this problem, did it appear to run correctly during this time? I would like to use some of the gas before bringing it in for repair, but if it will not run right, I want it fixed ASAP.

PS. A search for fuel sender did not get this thread even though that word combo was used in a post. Not sure the criteria for the search to work, but it doesn't look very deep.

Mine ran fine. I knew how much gas I had until I got down to 1/4 of a tank. Then the gage went to Empty and the DTE read "---." I then drove a few more miles to reduce the amount of gas a little more. My warranty for this item had expired, so I changed my sending unit myself. Get yours done under warranty if you can, and ask the dealer to question the Nissan warranty rep about this issue being so common to see if they will cover it even if your warranty is expired. It's worth a try, my dealer wouldn't even try.
I'm still under 36/36 so it should definitely be under warranty. I just wanted to drive it a few days to get some gas out before they poured it down the drain while dropping the tank.

Thanks!
Mine I felt ran a bit rich. I could smell gas out of the tail pipe and not as responsive.

Def get it done, even though they told me I would lose gas while they were doing the repair. My gauge read the same when I picked it up.
I just got back from picking up my Fronty from the doctor. I lost a bit of gas, but no more SEL on, so I'm happy. Replaced under warranty so I'm even happier! I topped her up with some 92 octane since it was almost empty for them to work on.
