Is anyone else taking a beating with this recession? Mrs. Okie and I have been hit pretty hard and if it keeps this up I may have to go back to work if I can find anything that I can do. So far Mrs. Okie still has her job, but they have frozen hiring, frozen salaries and stopped the profit sharing. If she can make it 2 more years she is done with it.

My retirement has taken a beating, but I won't be retiring for another 35+ years so I'm not real worried there. Mainly trying to curtail wasteful spending right now.
I have been very fortunate so far with my job. Although, I have spoken to a few patients that has lost their jobs.

I'll be working at my workplace until i can find a secure job after college. I take care of the mentally disabled. Can't get laid off doing that type of work. Right now I'm waiting for a call back on a paid internship position during the semester. Hope i get the job
Welcome back Okie!!! Hang in thar!
Taking from the business side of things we slowed down a bunch, but the company still grew last year. My 401k is down to half what it was worth a year ago.
It is definitely starting to pick up again, I figure with folks getting their tax return checks we should get a bit of a reprive maybe even the start of a regression.
I wonder if mdawg pulled through when nissan announced the gut blowing 20,000 people that they said were going to be laid off.
At the present time Congress is working on a plan to confiscate all of the 401K's and IRA's to help bolster up Social Security. If they proceed with this plan then Mrs. Okie may have to take an early retirement in order to protect her investment.

My clock # is low enough, I am not too worried, but there are many others that are worried. We have internal announcements tomorrow morning and Thursday morning. We'll see what they say.

I hope not, however, after the past year, there isn't much left!
Okie is right, there is a plan to confiscate all Ira's and 401's, I heard about that six months ago, real sad.
