Cost me less than a bucket for the mounting pieces/parts and $25 for the 'fog' lights. I think the brackets are for fencing but it works... Just need to plug everything in and see how it does off road. I had JB Weld lying around and epoxy but the 2 bolts that will be connecting the mount will keep this thing together, not the weld or epoxy... i just used that stuff to keep everything together during the build process.

Are you planning to put them behind the grill? How stable are the brackets?
Are they in yet?

Pics? I can't wait! Are they in yet?
It's actually pretty darn stable. I tried prying them apart but the stuff is stuck together. And bending the brackets takes a lot of muscle, but it will defiantly hold up from jumps and what not. Fairly easy, i just used the holes that the brackets came with and drilled them wider to get the bolts in. No measuring required on where to put the lights... they are equally apart and when i stuck the two brackets together, i just aligned the edges. The holes to mount in on the OEM bracket *behind the grill* requires SOME guessing but all in all fairly simple. I don't think i'll get them in for another week or 2. I need to get the wiring installed which i've never done...i had nissan do my fog kit last time...which was $75 to install... one of my first mods.
Here it is you boys and girls. Just need to bolt it back on the frame and plug it in. I'll be sure to take pictures with the grill on and off.

Nice, as far as the wiring. It is easy. I have a DIY in the DIY section
Done with mounting the lights on the truck. They do need to move out an inch or less to clear the nissan emblem. I'll just mount the lights to the next hole over on each side and that should clear the emblem. Still need to do the electrical stuff. I'm going to use epoxy on the back of the (fence mounts) to make it more stable (i drive rough). But it shouldn't be a problem, worst case scenario will be some bending to the brackets if you jump your truck a foot. All in all, I'm pretty darn happy for a $30 light mod. I have 2 lights behind the grill, fog lights, and headlights, i think im good now Smile

Ordering LED Reverse lights next week! Then I'm done with light mods!

Good job. I cut out my honeycomb and replaced it with smaller mesh since it blocked way too much light. Was hardly useable.

Today I bought some PIAA mini fog lights. I toyed with the idea of putting them in the outside parts of the grille.... but they're fogs so they should be mounted down below.

Oh, and if that bracket isn't stable enough, you could always double it up. Put 2 brackets together and bolt the lights onto both of them. Just a thought.

Well i re-mounted the lights farther apart (last hole to the end) and it's PERFECT! I love where it's at, it doesn't look like mickey mouse anymore. Then i took some epoxy and started covering the weak points and along the edge. It should be stable enough. If i detect any bending, then i'll double it up. Seems to work pretty well. I want to replace the grill, but that won't be until next year. I was going to replace it because i did a bad paint job. I won't be using the lights much, so i don't really care if the grill is in the way or not. Hey eglaisi, do you have the (V (chrome)) shaped part that maybe you could sell to me, so i could paint it the right way?
Nice!!
Ok, i am done! Success, with failure! So i got everything wired in, i used a hole for the black wire, because i couldn't get to a grounding. I cross wired the new red cable with the existing, because i already had a red wire going into the parking light. I turned the ignition on and pushed the button, wow, was i happy! But when i went to check out the lights, the freakin' door closed on me, with the keys in the ignition. So i was locked out for half an hour with the headlights and the mounted lights on!! When i was able to get in, i took the keys out of the ignition and went inside the house for 5 minutes. I came out and tried starting the truck but it was DEAD. So i waited 15 minutes, and unplugged everything and turned ALL the lights off (interior too), and still nothing. Had to get it jumped and it started like a charm.

Wonder why it died so fast? Maybe it could be rarely drive over 35 mph? I head driving over 35 mph the alternator charges the battery? Is this true? Well i remember reading this somewhere so after i got it started i took a long drive on the highway going 65 mph for about half an hour. I'm hoping the battery got charged somewhat. I'm worried about it dying again, so i'm thinking about getting a battery jump starter.

WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? This is a 4-5 month old battery! I got a thread under exterior i think. Check it out, it gives me around 750 cca.

Would this be fine for an emergency.

Those little powerpacks are great if your stuck somewhere with a dead battery but no house power (or batt charger). We have one at work and use it alot.

I've never heard doing 35mph will 'change' your battery. If the alternator is moving, it's going to be charging your battery. What kills batteries and alternators is starting and stopping the truck over and over. Short trips etc.

BTW, just read your above post.... sorry, I don't have a spare chrome grille.

I do a lot of small trips. Usually 1 mile trips twice a day. That could be what killed my battery. Crap.
Bought this, hope it works out great.
I'm also eyeing this. http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-CJS-50-Jumps...sbs_auto_2

But i don't know yet, i'm going to check out harbor freight.
Yes, make sure you actually get a jump starter, like 200amp or more. Not just a charger.
Yup, will do, thanks.
I'm loving it!! I checked out the lights today, and it's so awesome. I'll take pictures sometime this week, since school is done with, FINALLY. And i'll start a new thread "Show your interior". I want to show the inside of my truck, and what i've done with it so far.
Cool beans, cannot wait to see it
