Does it bother anyone else that our politicians have just spent $800 billion dollars of our money without even looking at what is in the bill? I am so mad I can't contain myself. Olahoma's Tom Coburn is still trying to get it stopped, but I don't think it is going to happen.
He is what every politician should be. He has voted against pork at almost every turn even when it is for Oklahoma. Some Oklahomans take him to task for it, but I say hoorah!
Some Senator, I don't recall which state he is from, on Glenn Beck's program said the bill was written so that if pork is offered to a state they have to take it or lose any funding from the US Government. Sort of like they did the bankers. They either took the bailout money or they could not get any Government aid later.
That reminds me of the part D pharmacy coverage under Medicare. You either take it out when you are 65 or you are penalized for every month that you delay it. Who can afford to wait? So you sign up for it and then pay your money and wait until you ever need any drugs.

Excellent analogy! From a teacher in the Nashville area.
Who worries about "the cow" when it is all about the "Ice Cream?
The most eye-opening civics lesson I ever had was while teaching third grade this year.
The presidential election was heating up and some of the children showed an interest.
I decided we would have an election for a class president.
We would choose our nominees. They would make a campaign speech and the class would vote.
To simplify the process, candidates were nominated by other class members.
We discussed what kinds of characteristics these students should have.
We got many nominations and from those, Jamie and Olivia were picked to run for the top spot.
The class had done a great job in their selections.
Both candidates were good kids. I thought Jamie might have an advantage because he got lots of parental support. I had never seen Olivia's mother.
The day arrived when they were to make their speeches Jamie went first.
He had specific ideas about how to make our class a better place. He ended by promising to do his very best.
Everyone applauded. He sat down and Olivia came to the podium. Her speech was concise.
She said, "If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream." She sat down.
The class went wild. "Yes! Yes! We want ice cream." She surely could say more. She did not have to.
A discussion followed. How did she plan to pay for the ice cream? She wasn't sure.
Would her parents buy it or would the class pay for it? She didn't know.
The class really didn't care. All they were thinking about was ice cream.
Jamie was forgotten.
Olivia won by a landslide.
Every time Barack Obama opened his mouth he offered ice cream and fifty-two percent of the people reacted like nine year olds. They want ice cream.
The other forty-eight percent of us know we're going to have to feed the cow and clean up the mess.
Well said Reserector, you hit the nail on the head.

Best analogy of this election I have read. Okie, I too, am appealed by what I saw in the news about the bill. It was a stack of paper ~6" thick.
It is truly time to succeed from the union. A union indicates a joining together, but today the joining is between the leeches and the hosts. The leeches number so many, they have taken control. At this rate, the hosts will surly die.
For you younger people out there you probably have not been as disturbed about this as some of those of us who are a little older. You see, I have steadily watched our rights being taken from us for many years now and it has been at an exponential rate.
They started out taking one freedom, then another, the farther they went the more they pressed on. They passed 4 years worth of Democratic programs in one bill because our representatives did not even take the time to read what they were voting on. What is that all about?
I am very concerned for our country right now and if you are not you should be.

Very good Res!
I think it will end up like the bar stool economics I read a while back.

Keep taking our rights and our money away to redistribute the wealth and another country oversees might give us a better deal. Then what are they going to do

They have us in a trap now. It is very difficult to get your wealth out of this country. They were smart enough to cut off the escape routes before they started applying the pressure to us. This has been a well planned operation and has been going on for more years than I have been alive.
It is like the frog that was put in water and then the temperature was slowly turned up a little at a time until he was boiled. He was perfectly happy with the incremental changes right up to the point he was boiled alive.
They are doing us the same way. our rights are being taken away so slowly that we don't even notice it. Like I said before, when they have done it to you for a long enough period of time you will recognize it. I do because I am old enough to look back at a LOT of things I was able to do that I can no longer do now. The trouble is that they are accelerating the pace as they get more and more control.
