Yea, I suppose I would feel the same way.
Visit a couple of your local shops who specializes in auto alarms.

hey sandi i got an autopage rs-900. its probably not the best out there, nothing is. keep in mind alarms are meant to delay a thief not stop them.
my system has a two way remote with UP TO 1 mile range, remote start, and a screen to tell me if my truck is locked or if someone is trying to tamper with it. it also has a bright blue flashing LED and motion sensor with a vehicle starter kill and a shock sensor so sensitive, strong winds will set it off..

I've got the Cobra system on the '91, works well but I can't find an extra fob for the thing.

Viper 5900 is pretty good, basically directed makes most of the alarms out there so any or there products would be good!

viper is what i have, i have the remote start which is nice, have the ac or heat on and warm up or cool off the truck before you get in

i have a DEI something or other. sweetest part about it is that it integrates the factory keyfob, so no extra buttons/keypads to fumble with/ take up space on the keychain.
i forget the model, (i can get that later if anyone is curious) but its got microwave sensors, glass break detection and most of the other fancy stuff youd expect with a system these days, but no 2-way notification.

I am interested! How much did you pay for it? Have a link?

ok, got it.
Pursuit PRO 9232a. i'm pretty sure it comes barebones (just shock sensor, entry sensor) and the installer added the glass break and microwave at my request.
i wanted something that wasnt gonna interfere w/ the factory starter kill, since i figured what's better than requiring a chipped key to start the truck? and again, it uses the factory key fob. score.
installed locally for $175.

We put the Viper system in nismogone's truck. We have to buy replacement key fobs every 12 - 18 months for $45 a pop. Expensive and I don't recommend it from our experience. I don't think he even uses it anymore.
I like the idea of using the factory key fob.

Anyone know of a alarm system that would cost $100 or less (not including install)? I'm living in the ghetto part of town now and kinda worried for my truck, lol. I will be able to see my truck out the window and it's less than 30 ft away, but still want something that can detect a slim jim or broken window. Our trucks only detect tampering with door locks right?
I'm looking into this right now.
