On one hand I hate to put everybody through a switch, but on the other, this software should prove to be much easier for me to maintain. This weekend, time permitting, I plan to transition FrontySpot to a different Forum software. I have been testing the conversion for a while, and it shouldn't take too long when I do it. I don't think the new software will be hard to get used to as it was originally written as a free vBulletin clone. When I make the switch, the site will be down for probably at least a couple hours. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly. If not, I'll put the current site back up until I am able to work through the problems.

Thanks for your understanding! I think you'll like the new software though. I may have to make some tweaks after it comes online, but it is pretty good in its stock form. The current software is just a pain to try to keep updated and to add functionality.
Will all the threads still be the same or do we have to start over?

I wouldn't dare do it if you were going to have to start over. I'll be importing all the users, threads, private messages, etc. from the current site.
Let's do it! 165
Sounds good!
Pretty much all the major forum apps are knockoffs of vBulletin, but out of curiosity which one are you switching to?

MyBB. One of the things I like about it is that it's not quite as "major" as some of the other boards, but it has been developed steadily for some time now and has really grown to be a great forum.
New board is up and running. Most everything converted correctly. Some signatures didn't convert correctly (most did) and only about half of the birthdays converted correctly. You can update each of those in your User CP if yours has problems. Other than that, take a look around and see what you think. I'll be adding some type of chat room back shortly as well.

Also, there are 3 themes to select from. Those can be chosen from the Edit options link in your User CP. The red theme is the default. There is also a blue version of the same theme that the red one is made from, and a dark theme.
So far I like it!

Were you able to login normally or did you have to reset your password?
Nope, worked the second time I tried. (misspelled p-word the first time)
Good. It's supposed to work that way for everybody. Hope it does...
Those that had passwords less than 6 characters needed to do the reset. Me being one of them.
It appears that the view new posts works with this software, that will make me much happier!

Not sure about the buttons and stuff yet and where did the trucks go?

Trucks will be back soon. Probably sometime tomorrow (today?!?). I've still gotta figure that part out...
Chat is now back...
I miss the active topics button. Tongue
View Today's Posts is essentially the same thing...179
theme dark versus blue...i don't know maybe dark.
But nice both.
I'm writing and I'm offline...little conflict
I'm taking dark for a test drive... feels pretty good to me, easier on the eyes.

Been thinking what to write under my name... now that I have the option

Tongue
Sorry. I had to remove the dark theme because of some problems. I've got a new dark theme in its place that I'm working on. Try out "FrontySpot Dark Red". It's still a little bit of a work in progress, but it's mostly done.
Little trucks are back now ad well as moderator, admin, and management badges...
Post images for the "FrontySpot Dark Red" theme have been fixed as well.
Updated homepage (portal) active topic links to take you to the last post in the thread. Also, added Project Vehicle forum under General Discussion section.
Can you add a "View First Unread" feature to this software like you did on the other versions?

Thanks BL!
Took me a few tries to get logged in (enough for me to have to wait 15 min) But, I am in and registered.

The site looks pretty good to me, like anything new it takes a little time to get use to it.

Thanks for all the work in keeping the forum site up and running.
