I made a couple of mistakes in two of my posts today and I was going to edit them, but the edit capability is already gone. Is there a way that the edit feature can be left on a post for longer than a few hours? It would certainly help me tidy up my messes.
I try to proof read my posts before posting, but somehow I still manage to make mistakes. I even left an n out of Presidential in the subject on one. I am not sure I would have been able to correct that with an edit anyway.
Thank you for anything you can do to help me on this.

BL will have to change that. How long do you think would be good? (without allowing disgruntled members to mass delete messages)
OkieScot, the Mods will take care of you...Just pm one of us and we will take care of you.

I think 24 to 48 hours would be fine. It would give me a chance to come back with a fresh mind and look at it again.
Thanks,

Changed to 24 hours. Anything beyond that time will require a moderator to edit.
BL,
Thank you for such fast service on this and 24 hours should work fine.

Mass delete? Can a member do a permanent delete? Surely it is just a soft delete that a mod or admin can reverse.
I have never seen a limited edit feature before. I wanted to fix some typos on one of my posts and was puzzled to see that there were no edit buttons. Mdawg was kind enough to explain the feature to me.
I vote to turn them on and leave them on.

Some pissed off members find it fun to delete/edit their posts to make them useless. Then leave...

As krh2 said, some members like to get attention when they decide to leave and will edit all of their old posts to remove information. To alleviate this, most bulletin board developers have added the ability to limit editing time for one's own posts. The reason you may not have seen it in the past is that many bulletin board software developers just recently added the feature. I have actually had a member do this on another side I own. It is not fun, and those older versions of software didn't keep records of deleted or edited posts. I could have sifted through huge database backups and restored the posts, but it could have taken a month to do so.
24 hours should be plenty of time to edit a post you have made. If not, add another post to the thread to clarify or ask a moderator to modify it for you. They will gladly help.
